Kidnapped By Government

Vox Day shows that government has no Constitutional authority to protect children and that children so "protected" are more at risk than those in the FLDS. If the FLDS raid can be justified because we don't like their religion, when will our children be taken from us because we are Christians or are homeschooling?

Augusta man arrested in sale of counterfeit items

Authorities have arrested an Augusta man Friday after he was caught selling counterfeit items from the back of his car.

Demetries Cathalow Banks, 36, of Bellemeade Drive, is charged with counterfeiting trademarked items, according to Richmond County sheriff's Investigator Shane McDaniel.

A sheriff's deputy witnessed Mr. Banks, who is an employee of the Department of Family and Children Services, selling the items from the back of a van in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Wednesday night, a sheriff's report states.

Inside the van, deputies reportedly found 83 counterfeit Gucci, Coach and other designer purses.

They also found more than 3,000 copied DVDs and CDs, and designer wallets, according to the report. Investigators awaited tests on the validity of the items before making the arrest.

students arrested trying to steal alligator

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Five Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University students face charges after police say they tried to steal a baby alligator from a miniature golf course.

According to a police report, the students had brought a roll of duct tape and a wooden stick to the alligator pit at the Congo River Miniature Golf Course in Daytona Beach Shores.

It's not clear why the students allegedly tried to steal the gator. They told investigators after they were caught that they had not thought about what they would do with the gator once they had it.

The students all posted $1,000 bail and were released from the Volusia County Branch Jail early Thursday.

Texas Polygamy Case

The images we have all seen of the families involved in the Texas polygamy case are disturbing. It doesn't matter where one's opinion lies - the whole situation is simply disturbing.

I would not agree to live in a plural marriage, no matter how often my husband jokes about finding another wife. But I do believe that people should be able to choose their lifestyles. I am strongly in favor of changing our marriage laws to provide gays and lesbians the chance to marry. In my mind, polygamy is not all that different as long as the marriage partners are consenting adults.

Unfortunately, at issue in the Texas case is not only freedom of association , but accusations that children are forced into arranged marriages.

It is interesting to note that CPS in Texas decided that accusations of teen girls being forced to marry justified the detention of over 400 children, some of them INFANTS. According to CPS's own information, 90% of the children detained were in no imminent danger.

It is for this reason that I'm crying "FOUL." Over the last decade I have seen some extraordinary silliness in CPS cases, usually perpetrated on families who are ill equipped to fight back. If you stand by and say nothing as multiple families are torn apart, then you may find yourself on the receiving end of the same bitter medicine with no one to speak out for you.

New Twist on a Nigerian Scam

The other day, I received a Yahoo instant message from a person claiming to be Nancy Gilbert, an AFRA member from South Carolina. Nancy and I had at one point worked quite closely together, so I was glad to hear from her.

She claimed to be stuck in Nigeria, with no money to get home. She said she would email me the hotel information so I could wire the money. Feeling a bit odd about this, I did a trace on the email and found it had been sent from Israel. Hmmmm.

The next time I heard from her on IM, I asked a questions that only Nancy would know the answer to.... BUSTED.

I've done some research and this seems to be somewhat common. I have not been able to get hold of Nancy, but I noticed a posting to one of the groups from her account asking for money.

This is not Nancy...Do not send this person money.

More to come....
