The Iranian regime does its best to keep a tight rein on news outlets, but new media – cell phone video, YouTube, and the countless number of blogs and news forums in Farsi means that when large-scale protests against the regime occur in public they are impossible to completely conceal. This is apparently what happened over the weekend. Sources have told PJM of a major public uprising over the weekend in Tehran – an account corroborated by other reports on the Web.This is the story they tell: at approximately 7 pm on Saturday, February 23, the Ershad patrol, modesty police assigned to enforce clothing regulations, accosted and attempted to arrest a young woman at Goldis Shopping Mall, located in western Tehran, presumably because her dress was not sufficiently modest. In recent weeks, the police squads charged with enforcing modesty have become more rigorous in their enforcement, with thousands of women detained, questioned, and arrested for violating hijab standards.Instead of meekly submitting to her fate, the woman fought back. A young man - it is unclear whether he was accompanying her - came to her defense and joined her in fighting the police. In an attempt to subdue – and humiliate him - the police grabbed the young man and threw him into the garbage can nearby. That was when the large crowd, predominately made up of young people, rose up against the police and attempted to liberate the young woman themselves.Faced with a full-blown riot - complete with angry crowds with garbage cans being set on fire - the frightened police jumped into the van and fled the scene, except for one unfortunate officer who was left behind. The policeman was reportedly attacked and beaten by the mob.The police returned, reinforced by a full-fledged anti-riot unit. To gain control of the situation, members of the unit fired warning shots into the air and threatened to fire directly into the crowd. There were reports of between 10-15 arrests. The incident documented by cell phone video that was uploaded to YouTube. While the quality of the video is extremely poor, the Farsi narration and background voices were intelligible and translatable.Among the calls coming from the angry crowd after the police were first driven away:“You have put us on since 1979 until now” (the Islamic Revolution of 1979) The crowd cheered after repeating the slogan multiple times.Another slogan chanted repeatedly - accompanied by boos: “We do not want the Islamic regime”The crowd continuously boos and heckles the police: “A revolution is happening” When a police vehicle approaches, there is a call: “Look this guy is entangled too” “He is going the wrong way”, “What the hell are you going to do?” “How many people do you think you can kill?”Then, there are cries of “Death to the Police”On the video, the voice of an individual – a citizen reporter - narrates: “Thy (police) arrested a girl and put her in the van, people rushed to free her from the police custody. The arresting officer let go of her and they started attacking him. The van belonging to the agents left the scene, not wanting to be hit by the people and left that officer behind. People ambushed him as he was running away from them and beat him up badly.”In a report on the event that appeared the Iran Press Service web site, student web sites are quoted as saying “to disperse the angry mob, heavy police and anti-riot units that arrived fired into the air but were met with a crowd of more than 300 people, now changing slogans against the regime and its leaders, mostly Ayatollah Ali Khameni and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, chanting “We don’t want dictatorship,” “We don’t want emergency and martial law.”The story comes on the heels of reports of student uprisings. As with this story, the reports are nowhere to be seen in the official Iranian press or the Western media - but by those who are determined that stories of resistance are somehow told.

Arrested for Helping Dying Chained Dog
2/22/08. Today Grimes was sentenced to 300 hours community service for a 'people organization', because 'people are dogs too'. She was also ordered to pay for the cost of the trial. This was justified by the judge because she said that Grimes chose to go to trial over ARD, therefore she should have to pay for it. Isn't it every person's right to go to trial? Does that right come with a price tag? Interestingly enough, according to Grimes' attorneys, this is not only NOT OFTEN done, but RARELY done. The costs were around $1700.
She was also ordered within 10 days to take everything Doogie related off any any site she 'has control or influence over'. (Editor's Note: I will be archiving this content here. -DKB)
The absolute worst part of it all was the way she was treated by both the DA and the judge. The saddest thing is that they actually seem to BELIEVE the horrible things they said about her. They seem to actually BELIEVE that the taking of Doogie was a publicity stunt by Grimes, so that she could be a 'hero'. That the Arnolds are 'victims' of her lies, and that 'the dog was just old'.
The DA said he was shocked this was her first offense, because her disrespect for the law and it's officials is like his worst hardened criminals. He also said that everything on the DDB site is a lie, twisted by Grimes to make people believe her. He was seriously ticked off that the Arnolds received Valentines and a brochure this Valentine's Day. Yet, at trial he insisted DDB should try to educate them, so which is it? Do you want them educated or not?
The judge said that Grimes was no Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King, Jr. That she has disgraced herself and her cause, as well as her supporters by her actions. That two wrongs don't make a right. (If she's admitting there were 'two wrongs', then why are the Arnolds still not being convicted of abuse?)
We are saddened by the state of affairs in Blair County, Pennsylvania. Saddened by the people 'in control', and saddened by the beliefs they put out into the world.
Pictures and video do not lie. If it were a he said/she said situation, we could understand how they would believe the Arnolds when they say the dog was just old. But with the abundance of evidence of neglect, there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for the behavior of both DA Richard Consiglio and Judge Elizabeth Doyle. Pictures and video DO NOT LIE.

Give Me the Damn Taco!!!!!!
This is too hilarious!
California man robbed of a bag of tacos at gunpoint, police say
The Associated Press |
FONTANA, Calif. — A hunger for carnitas nearly led to some carnage after a Fontana man was robbed of a bag of tacos at gunpoint. Police Sergeant Jeff Decker said the 35-year-old victim had just bought about $20 in tacos from a street-corner stand Sunday night and was bicycling home when the suspect confronted him and said "Give me your tacos."
Decker said the suspect grabbed the bag of food, punched the victim in the face and began to flee.
When the victim demanded his tacos back, the suspect pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the man and threatened to kill him before running away.

Post from childprotectionreform
This was a response to a fellow member whose mother had turned on her:
I can't imagine my mother turning on me.....My mother has always been my
strongest support. In my family's case it was my biological father and his
mother who accused us. Ironically, Herbert (that was his name) was not only a
serial adulterer, a deadbeat dad, and your basic redneck run-of-the-mill ass, he
was a juvenile court judge in Richmond County, Georgia. (The horror stories I
could tell.....he made national news some years ago when he took 2 children away
from their mother because the mother was a lesbian.) After he died at the end of
2006, my mother and I took his estate to court for the back child support. Due
to a technicality, had we gone to trial we would have lost, but his widow
settled with us because she was trying to hide assets from the IRS and I guess
she thought I could mess up her world if she didn't settle.
But I digress. I've said this before, and I think it's important to say this
again, mainly for the benefit of victims who are related to or know their
accusers: If there is a person in your life who has falsely accused you of
child abuse, or made comments as to how you must be guilty....GET RID OF THEM!
First of all, people like that are DANGEROUS to your family. Furthermore, it's
simply crazy to continue to allow someone who is dangerous to have access to
your family and information about your family. For some, it may be the
emotional equivalent of an amputation. Do it anyway.
Personally, I'm pretty cold and hard hearted. The decision was a no-brainer for
our family. I've never had any regrets....My mother and I opened a bottle of
champagne to celebrate each accuser's death. When Herbert died, a friend called
to tell me to turn on the news. The first words out of my mouth were, "Did
somebody finally kill him?"
I'm saying this publicly because I think this is so important. And I don't mind
saying personal things like this because sharing this shows that I've been
there. I'm not just giving advice with no personal knowledge of breaking ties
with family. I've been there.
